Working on Sasha's Birthday cake

Well Yesterday I made a homemade vanilla cake that was like a wedding cake. I had Sasha try it and she did not want vanilla today I made a strawberry cake and made buttercream frosting. I rolled the fondant and covered the cake and waited to do the rest till Sasha was home. Truth be told it took that long so Sasha helped with decorating and making the flowers. It turned out adorable making cakes for kids birthdays is so special and its something they will remember. Anyone can buy one and yes its easier and a lot of times cost less to buy one but the fun and the joy of helping is so worth it. I felt bad that last year I was not feeling well and having Attiucs so making a cake was out of the question and the year before we were moving and no home made cake but Jill did have one waiting for Sasha. Every year before it has been a home made one so we start again with our tradition. I did the same thing for Genesis when he was young. The dolls hair is still up till the day of the party. Oh and out of 4 photos with Sasha she had her eyes closed in all of them.

That cakes beats ANY store bought one any day! It looks fabulous! Good job with the fondant, I hate using it and that's mostly what they use here.
And your right making a cake is more memorable :)

The fondant was fun to get used to not as bad as I thought it would of been. I dont like the taste of it but oh well.
Just like Halloween I would rather make a cake or a costume than buy one.
